Books and Bites Adult Book Club | Librarian's Musings
Do you know how good reading is for you? Reading regularly has been shown to:
- Increase intelligence
- Improve memory
- Reduce risk of Alzheimer’s
- Reduce stress
- Improve sleep
- Increase longevity!
And there are additional benefits when you share reading with others. Reading can build community and empathy while broadening our horizons and exposing us to new ideas – and at Book Club, we are always getting exposed to new ideas!

Every month, the club reads a new book, provided for free by the Colorado State Library.
We have read all sorts of things – fiction, nonfiction, even graphic novels and young adult books. Some of the books we’ve read include:
- The Color Purple
- Killers of the Flower Moon
- A Court of Thorns and Roses
- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
- American Born Chinese
In addition to the books, there are the bites – we always have snacks at meetings. Some are provided by the Library, some by our generous members. We have also gathered for book-to-film watch parties and potlucks. Books and Bites Book Club provides community, conversation, and a place where people can come together to discuss tough ideas in a supportive environment.
